Good Samaritan Grant Program
In the Good Samaritan parable, we are called to be a good neighbor to people in need. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland provides support each year to organizations meeting the basic needs – such as food, clothing, shelter, and transportation – of those living in poverty in Cuyahoga County.
The Good Samaritan Grant program was the first initiative founded by the foundation after it was established in 1996.
Foundation Announces Good Samaritan Grants
The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland has awarded 30 Good Samaritan Grants, totaling $150,000 including 8,000 daily RTA bus passes, to non-profit and faith based organizations in Cuyahoga County. In addition, the Foundation also awarded four other grants totaling $122,000. For more information. Last year, to celebrate the foundation's 15th anniversary, the foundation increased its funding to establish a unique transportation project called Ride Your Way.
In the past several years, the need for transportation grants from our applicants has increased, and with gas prices and bus passes rising the need is growing. The foundation this year will purchase daily bus passes worth $40,000 to distribute through the Good Samaritan program.
